ABOUT ME
Hello, I'm Taksh Bhatia!
I'm a confident and energetic high school senior who is on an exciting journey to explore the exciting fields of science, music, and sports. MY RESEARCH
I have worked on a project implementing CRISPR technology to find a potential treatment for HIV. This research focuses on targeting the HIV viruses within humans and preventing further viral replication. This approach aims to provide a method for stopping the spread of the virus across the body, demonstrating my dedication to not only advancing scientific research but also discovering cures for those afflicted by currently incurable diseases. My research has been approved for publication and will be coming out soon in the Journal of Student Research!

My leadership
Cricket Club, President and Co-Founder
As the President, Captain, and co-founder of our school cricket team and club, I had a vital role in bringing a relatively unknown sport to light in my community. I oversaw weekly practices, spearheaded the team in intense interschool matches, and connected many South Asians in my school to a sport famous in their ancestral country. I additionally created a motivational and fun environment to allow for more dedication and improvement among all players.
National Honor Society, Vice President and President
As Vice President and President, I documented the service of club members in spreadsheets, and fully automated the recording system for maximum accuracy. I organized events at local food banks, while also planning multiple in-school events such as fundraisers for hospitals and Career Days to educate high schoolers on jobs and colleges.
BASIS Chandler Tutoring, Tutor
As a tutor, I coached 7th and 8th graders on subjects like Algebra, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I aided students with their homework, explaining concepts and past assessments in detail to ensure the student would perform brightly in the future.
Model United Nations, Vice President
Leading as a Vice President, I mentored younger delegates in conference etiquette and strategies, aiding in multiple award-winning conferences for novices. I additionally presided over Junior Model UN conferences, coaching the middle schoolers in improving their policies and speaking skills.
Tri-M Music Honor Society, Secretary and Outreach
As Secretary and Outreach, I organized out-of-school music events for senior citizens to foster intergenerational connections over music while ensuring young musicians important performing experience. I also took part in raising over two thousand for the music department throughout my tenure on the board. Furthermore, I designed promotional flyers for joining the club, doubling our club size to 120 students.
Project Bliss, Director
Project Bliss is a student-led organization based in India that advocates for and serves underprivileged children, specifically their education. As the Director of the US-based operations, I've organized and promoted various fundraisers for blind and visually impaired children's education and empowerment, raising over $2100.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Section Leader
Spearheading the Percussion section in my School Band allowed me to pursue a deep passion of mine of music. As section leader, I oversaw and planned the practice sessions for faciliating improvement amongst percussionists; additionally, I raised money to buy a new percussion instrument. I also trained middle school percussionists in snare drum and mallet basics to improve upon weak areas.
Nerdy Tutors, Co-Founder
Tutoring throughout my school years has been a continuously rewarding experience for myself and my tutees. Hence, I co-founded Nerdy Tutors to spread the gift of knowledge on difficult subjects to more people. Not only did I spearhead audio recordings and script writing, I also ran Spanish boot camps to spread the reading, writing, and speaking knowledge of diverse cultures.

Hospital Volunteering
My main job was to bring comfort to all attendees at the hospital, patients and family alike. I escorted people, ran errands, updated the "Epic" hospital software regularly, delivered patient details to different departments, and more. Additionally, as an ED volunteer, I spearheaded the sanitization of IV kits, pillows, and pillowcases, while also arranging refreshments for ED visitors.

Pound Animals Worth Saving
I advocated the adoption of pound dogs to potential forever families. However, I also supervised the hygiene of the dogs, as I cleaned soiled playpens, walked dogs around the shopping complex, and wiped down food and water bowls.

Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal
I have mastered over 100 devotional compositions to multiple deities, performing in various musical concerts and fundraisers like Akshaya Patra. I have also achieved first-class rankings in 2 global exams. Furthermore, I passed on these teachings by training 2 students in multiple compositions.

Community Pianist
I've played the piano since 2013, performing in senior centers, malls, cancer hospitals, and more, amounting to over 50 hours of community playing. I learned over 150 compositions, ranging from nursery rhymes to classical pieces.

Varsity Tennis
I played for my school's varsity tennis team in 9th grade, and played until the state quarterfinals. I also won an award as a member of the state championship best team.

Shadowing
I would examine the patient's heartbeat with a stethoscope and report to the doctor whether there were irregularities or an overall consistent heartbeat. Additionally, I interpreted each patient's electrocardiogram for any possible blockages or problematic heartbeats.
